Coming November 8th to a voting booth near you…
ACT is proud to announce our recommendations for CVUSD School Board:
Irene Hernandez-Blair, Joe Schaffer, and Don Bridge!
Irene Hernandez-Blair– Irene has earned our recommendation in the past, and has our enthusiastic support for her re-election in November. Irene has proven to be a champion for all of our students, and a friend to teachers. She has always been transparent in her decisions, and more than willing to dialogue with all stakeholders. As a proud union member herself, Irene has long been a supporter of ACT, and understands that our working environment is our student’s learning environment.
Joe Schaffer– Joe began getting involved in CVUSD policy not as a potential School Board candidate, but as a concerned father. Active in PTA, school site council, and CVUSD LCAP Parent Advisory Committee, Joe has serious concerns about our current board’s priorities and decisions. Joe is retired from law enforcement with the City of Orange Police Department, where he represented his union’s members in collective bargaining. Joe Schaffer may be a new name to many, but after getting a chance to meet him, we feel certain you will agree that his focus and integrity are much needed on our School Board.
Don Bridge– Don has been, and always will be, one of us. Recently retired, Don’s 33 years as a member, and past president of ACT (2000-2004), make him an obvious choice for our School Board. Not only has Don long-championed CVUSD students and teachers, but he recently served nine years on the California Teachers Association Board of Directors, advocating for teachers statewide. Don’s breadth of knowledge and established relationships within the educational community make him uniquely qualified to help guide our district.
We’ll need your help to re-elect Irene and put Joe and Don on the board. Start talking to your friends and neighbors now, and this fall please plant a yard sign if you live in the area. Watch for an announcement for our election website featuring links to each of the candidates so you can communicate with them directly. We’ll also be looking for donations and volunteers for neighborhood walking and phone banking.
We know it all starts with the School Board, and this is our chance to make a difference. Let’s work together for a positive change. Let’s elect Irene Hernandez-Blair, Joe Schaffer, and Don Bridge – The Teachers’ Choice!
